2. How does fittings work at The Bridal House?
We work by appointment only, we do not ask for fitting fees during the week, but Saturday there is a R150 fitting fee. You can fit as many dresses as you like as long as you stay within the 1hr 30min time allocated to you. Cancellations of fitting appointments will only be accepted 48 hours before your fitting. You can fit as many dresses as necessary to find your perfect gown. If you wish to fit the dresses you were quoted on again, you will not be charged for the second fitting.
3. How far in advance should I buy my wedding dress?
If possible it’s best to allow 5 – 8 months before your wedding to order a gown. This will allow enough time for the construction, transport as well as alteration of your gown to ensure a perfect fit. Our lead times vary between 2 – 5 months, depending on stock availability at the supplier so we will try our best to accommodate you. The sales dresses are available immediately.
4. What is the price ranges for your wedding dresses?
We offer both hire and purchase options. The average purchase price is between R18000 to R25000 and the average rental price is between R7500 – R10000.
5. What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring pictures of dresses you’ve seen on our website, Pinterest, in magazines or that you’ve tried on elsewhere. This will help us get an idea of what your style is. Be sure to wear light coloured underwear and perhaps a strapless bra to be able to get the best idea when fitting different necklines. And finally relax and enjoy the fitting and leave the rest up to our friendly consultants.
6. Who should I bring with to my appointment?
It is advised that you bring the person closest to you whose opinion you value like a sister, best friend or mother, who knows you well and with whom you want to share the experience of buying your wedding dress. Bringing too many can take the focus off of you and confuse you. If you wish to bring a large bridal party it is advised to do so during your second fitting once you have chosen your dress.
7. How do I pay for my wedding dress?
We prefer EFT payments and accept credit card payments (MasterCard and Visa), as well as cash.
If you are ordering a gown, we require a 40% deposit at the time you order your gown. We can then organise an interest free payment plan depending on when your wedding is. The final payment will need to be paid on your first fitting before any alterations are done to the dress.
If you are buying a sample gown, we require 100% payment and you must take the dress home with you that day.
8. What should I bring to my first alteration fitting?
You should bring your shoes and underwear you will wear on your wedding day in order to have your gown properly fit. If you’ve already chosen your jewellery you are welcome to bring it along as well to ensure it compliments your dress.
9. Are alterations included in the purchase price?
Basic alterations are included in the purchase price such as length of skirt. If the gown does require further alterations it normally costs between R1000 – R2000 depending on the work that needs to be done.
10. Can I come for my alteration fittings over the weekend?
Our alteration department are only available during the week between 09:00 and 16:30. When planning to fit your dress, please make sure you are available during the week. If coming from far it is recommended to collect your gown and do fittings closer to your home town.
